The Renaissance flutes that I make are copies of various originals from different European collections. I have looked through historical treatises to find the fingerings that would best work on these instruments, and the instruments are designed to work with those historical fingerings. The intonation of my flutes, as with the originals, is based on a just Dorian mode. |
